Family Life & Community Involvement

Since 1998, David has proudly called Virginia Beach home. He and his wife Angela are the proud parents of two children, and together they enjoy traveling, making memories, and embracing all the joys of family life.

Outside the office, David finds balance on the golf course—both playing and organizing—through the Virginia Beach Golf League, which he founded in 2007. A former rugby enthusiast, David played for teams in Springfield, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Virginia Beach, carrying the camaraderie and grit of the sport into all facets of life.

His commitment to service extends beyond the legal realm. David is an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, serves on the general board of Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia, and participates in the Hampton Roads Estate Planning Council. His deep roots in both professional and community circles reflect his belief in helping others build strong foundations—personally, professionally, and spiritually.

David earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Business Transactions from The University of Alabama School of Law, deepening his commitment to helping business owners navigate complex transitions with confidence and clarity.
His career began in public accounting, serving firms in Boston, MA, and Washington, DC. After receiving his law degree in 1997, he relocated to Virginia Beach, VA, and joined Wolcott Rivers Gates in 1998. Since then, David has focused on:

Advising clients on business transactions including entity formation, restructuring, acquisitions, dispositions, and succession planning
Creating strategic estate plans designed to reduce tax burdens and streamline probate administration
