What Happens After A Loss?
If probate (a public forum) is required
- The Will must be properly recorded
- Assets must be identified and secured
- You may need to formally qualify as the estate’s executor or administrator
- Inventories and accountings may need to be filed with the Commissioner of Accounts
- Tax matters must be addressed and filed accurately
If your loved one had a trust:
- You may be able to bypass probate altogether
- Asset distribution remains private and more efficient
- Administration is streamlined—but still requires careful attention and legal guidance
